I work with teens and adults who live with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, OCD, and other mental health disorders and psychological challenges. Regarding day-to-day issues, I collaborate with clients to develop skills to manage life transitions, identity exploration, young adulthood, school/workplace challenges, relationship difficulties, communication issues, mood changes, and more. I’m a person-centered therapist who also utilizes elements of DBT to support those who experience emotions very intensely and CBT to help people understand how thoughts affect emotions and behaviors. I attend to my clients specific needs in each session. I administer evidence based assessments in the first session to aid in clinical diagnosis. From there, I collaborate with my clients to create a treatment plan to guide our sessions. In past roles, I have provided counseling to students who are on the autism spectrum.
I am passionate and motivated to extend counseling services to teens and adults across various nationalities, cultures, ethnicities, and identities. I pride myself in being flexible and culturally competent to provide ethical treatment to diverse groups of individuals.
I work with clients to support them in gaining greater insight into their opportunities and difficulties. I use a solution focused, multicultural, collaborative, strength-based approach that is guided by my clients’ personal needs. In doing so, my clients gain a better understanding of how thoughts, experiences, and relationships impact emotions and behaviors. I am a compassionate therapist who simultaneously validates and challenges my clients. I remain curious and non-judgmental as I believe that all our thoughts, behaviors, and feelings have a reason behind them. I am engaged, responsive, warm, and empathetic towards all of my clients.
I received my Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University (Chicago, IL) and my Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA). I am certified by the DC Board of Professional Counselors to assess, diagnose, and provide therapy under the supervision of an independently licensed clinical supervisor.
