I provide virtual mental health counseling to adolescents and adults who are looking manage stress and distress that is affecting their thoughts, behaviors, mood, relationships an ability to function (eat sleep, hygiene). I have an interest in working with clients around educational and professional pursuits and transitions.
Overall, clients are looking for long-term coping skills and a deeper understanding of what causes them to experience low energy, negative thoughts, worry, shame, doubt, fear, anger, guilt, sadness and loneliness. I take a treatment approach which encompasses my clients specific religious or spiritual beliefs and well as mind, body, behavior, trauma and attachment focused approaches.
I work with clients to trust themselves and others, regulate their emotions, adjust frustrating behaviors, express needs, navigate conflict, communicate effectively, set appropriate boundaries for themselves and others and build fulfilling connections. Over the course of our therapeutic relationship, my clients explore, discover, process, communicate, learn and unlearn and make meaning. We'll identify actionable and measurable strategies aimed at eliminating or reducing distress and symptoms.
My approach to therapy emphasizes the individual and the ways in which systems such as family, identity and culture might affect an individual. I work with clients to explore and address things in the here and now and also take a look at how past events, relationships and environments might be informing emotions, thoughts, behaviors and wellbeing currently.
Throughout the process, I remain curious, lighthearted, attentive, direct and compassionate. I utilize questions, reframing, challenging statements and validation to support your development.
I am pursing my Masters in Clinical Mental health Counseling at Washington Adventist University. I provide mental health diagnosis, assessment and treatment under supervision.
