Grainy Surface

We work to take the stigma and the belief that “Only people with ‘problems’ go to therapy,” out of therapy.  Our individual therapy approach and perspective  is designed to provide practical support for seemingly benign to the most devastating life experiences. We focus on providing culturally focused psychodynamic (exploring behavior, feelings, and emotions and how they might relate to early experience) and psychoanlaytic (awareness of unconscious, maladaptive and habitually recurrent patterns of emotion and behavior) therapy.

We embrace Black people from throughout the Diaspora, Latino/Latina, Asian/Pacific Islander, Indigenous, Middle Eastern,  bicultural/immigrant, religious and spiritual and LGBTQ+ identities and more. We provide emotionally and physically safe space and therapeutic support to facilitate the untangling all of complex thoughts, emotions, experiences, relationships, desires, behaviors and unmet needs.

We collaborate with adults to understand the cognitive, behavioral and emotional impact of their experiences and relationships. Specifically, we work with clients to improve interpersonal communication and relationships; develop assertiveness, self-efficacy, determination and autonomy; address family-of-origin challenges; adjust to life transitions (relocation, career changes, marriage pregnancy and childbirth). Further, you'll explore ways to develop habits to enhance concentration, organization and structure; resolve trauma resulting from interpersonal violence, sexual assault and health/medical experiences; grief and loss; manage first/second generation American issues; learn  stress  and distress management and gain control of impulsive behaviors.
